The block practice lasts for 1 week. Attendance at all lectures, seminars and practices during the block practice is mandatory.

Requirements at the Department of Neurology

• Depending on the number of the students, the block practice consists of one of the followings:
  • The students are divided into different wards (ICU, Male Ward or Female Ward). Active participation on the wards is obligatory (morning rounds, BP measurements, ABI measurements, blood sampling, etc.). Your practice starts at 8 o’clock every working day. Please dress in clean white coat. Without wearing white coat, participation at the practice is not allowed, and that day is not acknowledged. Your bags, clothes can be left in the lockers at the 3rd floor. Keys for the lockers are given at the first day of your practice. Participating the morning rounds is obligatory (start at 9:00). After the morning round attend consultations, join to your tutor, or train yourself, examine the patients, get some practice in the neurological examination! In order to be able to communicate with the patients, please make pairs with Hungarian students! If you bump into difficulties, ask the MDs on the ward, who will help you. The practice ends at 2 pm.
  • In case of large number of students, there are seminars every day between 8 and 14 o’clock in room 315. According to a time table, there are consultations about neurological diseases, diagnostic tools, neurological physical examination and case presentations, where the students have the opportunity to examine patients with the help of a doctor. Attendance at all lectures, seminars and practices during the block practice is mandatory.
• Absence from the block practice is not allowed. In case of one day absence, written medical or other official certificate is necessary, but even in this case the practice should be made up by participation in a duty or on a round visit with the Head of the Department. In case of more than one day absence, the block practice must be repeated.
• The signature is given in the Practice Book on Friday. We kindly ask the students to bring their Practice Book with themselves on Friday morning. On Friday afternoon, at the end of the practice, the signed practice books are handed out. Only those students get signature who participated every day/every seminars or in case of absence, did the made up which is verified and in case of practice in the wards, gave back the key of their locker.
• Participating nightshift is optional, should be arranged previously with the doctor on call.
• Please consider the dignity of the patients when visiting the wards, laboratories and outpatient units. Inappropriate behaviour (laughing, phoning etc.) during patient demonstration is not allowed. All patient data must be treated confidentially. The patient's chart is a legal document which may be used only on the ward. The patient's chart may not be photographed, copied or removed. If you make notes for yourself, please use only the patients' initials.
